Superintendent Connect Message

April 24, 2026

Dear AISL Community,

What an amazing week!  It started with the PTO Business Entrepreneur Fair in the ALC.  We have some very creative and eager students willing to show what they have for sale!  It was a wonderful event to see before the truly memorable Family Fun Fair on Saturday, April 18.   I know this is my first one, but the PTO made an amazing impression on the type of event the Fun Fair could be. I loved Enchanted Wonderland and I hope you were able to experience it as well.

Thank you so much to our PTO:

Kemi Agoro

Celina Choi

Deepali Pawar

Karen van Rensburg

Nkem Adebo

Nnamdi Ukamba

Zrinka Sladic

Also a big thank you to Mrs. Monica and Mr. Chinedu for the Grade 3 Performances this week!  A fabulous presentation by all three Grade 3 classes!

One of the first ideas to AISL was to their Primary Student Council. During my interview, when Student Council members asked me what the job of the Superintendent was, I said you should see for yourself. AISL should have a Superintendent for the Day! Thursday, April 23 was the day that idea became reality.

Through a selection process the Student Council created, two individuals were selected by the Primary students to be Superintendents for the Day. Grade 3 student, Gabriella (Gaby) Palmer-Ikuku and Grade 5 student, Alek Vanrensburg.

Here are their summaries of the day:

I was chosen to be a superintendent with Alek Vanrensburg. We got to attend meetings, visit classes, and learn what a superintendent does. I had a really fun day being one of the superintendents for a day. I hope more people get to experience it too.

Gabriella (Gaby) Palmer-Ikuku

I’ve had a really fun day today, we visited high school, EC, grade 1, grade 4 and had a meeting with Mr. Nate Heck, and joined the CIS Accreditation meeting. I got to see what Dr. Love does and it seems like a busy but enjoyable job.

It was like seeing behind the scenes of a school. Mr. Heck even taught us the system of WAISAL, and the CIS Accreditation meeting was about the future of our learning at AISL. I met teachers and saw what they did, it was truly a learning experience.

Dr. Love works hard, and we (Gaby and I) got to see how it feels. Thank you for letting me do this. It was amazing.

Regards, Alek van Rensburg

Good luck to our WAISAL Basketball teams!  I hope you are following their successful games!

With gratitude,

Dr. Dan Love
