Our Community

We are friends that become family.

At the heart of it all lies the community at AISL. For over 6 decades, AISL has nurtured a warm and inclusive community of students, faculty, parents, and alumni.

Our Students

Our students currently represent 46 different nationalities. It is through their learning, collaboration, and friendships that lifelong connections are formed. The school embraces its diversity by promoting an inclusive environment; one of dignity, respect and tolerance.

Our Parents

AISL parents are the backbone of our community. As soon as a student joins AISL, their parent or guardian becomes a Member of the Parent Association. Parents have come together, led by our wonderful and dedicated Parent Teacher Organization (AISL PTO), to produce community wide celebrations such as Nigerian Culture Day, International Day, Thanksgiving, Chinese New Year, and Eid, to name a few. Parents also serve as a crucial real-world learning partner to in-classroom learning. We love inviting parents as guest speakers, to join us in the classroom, across all grade levels, to teach us from their diverse real-life experiences in the professional world.

Our Faculty

Our faculty currently represent over 11 different nationalities. 78% of our faculty hold an advanced degree (Masters level, PHD, EdD), and 100% of our faculty have international teaching experience. At AISL we believe that a significant indicator in student success can be traced directly back to the quality of teachers. Over the years we have created a diverse and talented community of learning leaders in our school. We also have several faculty and staff that have worked here for over 20 years and serve generations of students.

Our Alumni: Connect, Expand, Give Back!

At AISL we have expanded our definition of alumni to include former students, faculty, and parents. It is not uncommon to hear from AISL students across generations: ‘The friends I made at AISL are my friends for life.”

The American International School Lagos Alumni Relations program was established in 2015 to support the school in the achievement of its mission and to encourage alumni to remain actively involved and informed throughout their life. AISL places significant importance on, and is committed to its alumni around the world. We have hosted many events locally and internationally over the years. These events include alumni-student sports tournaments in volleyball, basketball, soccer, and softball; social gatherings in Lagos, New York, Tacoma, Washington DC, and Houston; career related events including an Alumni Panel breakfast and Mentor Morning for current AISL High School students. If you are a former student, parent, or faculty of AISL please visit The AISL Alumni Network, that allows you to reconnect with former classmates and enables you to utilize the trusted AISL Community to expand your personal and professional network.
