Primary (EC/ES) Connect - May 22nd, 2026

Dear Primary Families,

The end of the year is always a special time to celebrate our community, as student growth truly comes to light and shines. Every subject celebrates the learning that has taken place throughout the year. This week, we enjoyed our Grade 4 Performing Arts celebration, admired G3-5 students' Ceramic Art pieces and cheered on our little Kindergarten engineers as they showcased their STEAM projects. We are so proud of our students as well as our teachers. Please mark your calendars for the upcoming events!

VISUAL ARTS CERAMIC CELEBRATION

Primary students celebrated their creativity and hard work during our Visual Arts Ceramic Celebrations! Families were invited into classrooms to admire the beautiful ceramic pieces students designed.

From Grade 2’s Snack Bowl Party to Grade 3’s Cereal Bowl Bash and Grade 4’s Spot of Tea & Art, each event highlighted not only artistic talent, but also the joy of sharing learning with others. Students proudly showcased their handmade ceramic bowls and tea cups while enjoying special moments with family members and classmates.

These celebrations were filled with excitement, conversation, and appreciation for the creativity, patience, and care our young artists poured into their work. A big thank you to our Visual Arts teachers, Ms. Regina and Mr. Shupps.

PERFORMING ARTS CELEBRATION

Grade 4 students performed The Jukebox Time Machine this past week. This imaginative production followed a magical jukebox hidden at Grandma’s house that transports characters through different decades. Along the way, they experience exciting adventures, encounter famous artists, and discover traditions and timeless music. Students explored theatre, singing, history, music, and culture in creative and meaningful ways. A big thank you to our Performing Arts teachers, Ms. Monica and Mr. Chinedu.

STEAM CELEBRATION

Over the past several weeks, our Kindergarten students embarked on an authentic STEAM journey through their Pushes and Pulls Engineers project, exploring how engineers use creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving to help others. As part of their learning, students observed members of our custodian team around the school community, interviewed them about the challenges of moving heavy items, and identified real problems that needed solutions. Using the Engineering Design Process, students asked questions, imagined ideas, planned, built, tested, improved, and proudly shared their prototypes designed to help our school helpers move objects more easily and safely. The culminating STEAM Showcase transformed our Kindergarten classrooms into vibrant spaces of innovation and learning, where students confidently explained their thinking, demonstrated their creations, and reflected on their learning with parents, staff, and community members. Beyond science and engineering, the project beautifully highlighted empathy, collaboration, and student agency as our youngest learners applied their knowledge in meaningful ways to serve their community. Watching the children proudly share their ideas and solutions reminded us all that even the smallest hands can create the biggest ideas. A big thank you to Ms. Tokunbo!
