Primary (EC/ES) Connect - 4 September 2025

Dear Primary Families,

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT

We are excited to invite you to our upcoming Back to School Night on 9 September, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. This event is a wonderful opportunity for you to learn more about our curriculum, daily routines, communication methods, procedures, attendance policies, and other important aspects that shape your child’s educational experience.

During Back to School Night, you’ll have the chance to meet all of your child’s homeroom teachers, specialist teachers, and instructional assistants. It’s a great time to ask questions, connect with other parents, and get a clearer picture of AISL’s educational approach.

*Please note, this evening is not intended for individual student discussions, those should be scheduled separately.

To make things easier for families with more than one child, homeroom teachers will present three times, so you can visit multiple classrooms. Specialist teachers will also be available for drop-in sessions to share more about their programs. All sessions will take place in the classrooms, and we encourage you to meet and greet all teachers.

MAP Assessment

Beginning on 8-26 August, students in G2 - G5 will undertake MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) assessments. MAP is a computerized assessment for Reading, Mathematics and English Language Usage.

MAP data is useful as it informs teachers where a student currently lies on the skills progression for Reading, Mathematics and English language usage. MAP data informs teachers what each child’s next learning steps are. The data also explains where a student lies compared to expected norms.

There is nothing students need to do to prepare for the tests other than to have a good night’s sleep and a nutritious breakfast on the day. If your child has their own device please ensure they restart the device in the morning.

Should a student not perform well on a MAP test there is no need to worry; MAP is just one of a basket of assessments teachers use to assess and to support students. Should your child be absent on the test day, your child will sit the test on another day. Once the results are ready the assessments will be uploaded onto Veracross

Please click here for further general information for parents provided by the company who makes MAP.
