Primary (EC/ES) Connect - 26 September 2025

Dear Primary Families,

Nigerian Culture Day is almost here, and we are excited to have you join us in celebrating Nigeria on September 30th! Please review the key information below about the day’s events. If you haven’t already received it, your child’s homeroom teacher will also share a more detailed schedule specific to their class.

Dress Code: Students are encouraged to wear Nigerian cultural wear. If they do not wear Nigerian cultural wear, students must wear their AISL uniform. It is not a normal free dress day.

Opening Ceremony: 8:00am - 9:15am
Parents are asked to remain in the designated parent section in the gym to ensure all children are accounted for. Students will be with their homeroom teacher and IAs. After the ceremony, children will return to their homeroom classes.

Marketplace - please follow grade level schedule

For the marketplace, students are allowed to bring their own money to shop. Please do not send more than 15,000 Naira. If you'd like to accompany your child to the marketplace, you are welcome to do so. We kindly ask that if parents pick up their children from the classroom to visit the marketplace, they return them to their respective classes once the period is over. Since teachers will be responsible for supervising their classes, they will not be able to manage each student's money or purchases, or ensure that change is correct. This is a valuable learning opportunity, so we kindly ask that you discuss it with your child in advance.

Closing Ceremony - 12:10pm

After the ceremony, children will return to their homeroom classes and be dismissed from their respective classes.

If you need to leave early, please follow our dismissal procedure. Ms. Kemi will be in the main office downstairs to assist you.

Class Schedules for Nigerian Culture Day - please note that schedules are subject to change.

HENNA

During Nigerian Culture Day, as part of the celebration, students will have the opportunity to get henna.

If you do not want your child to receive henna, please complete this opt-out form. If you are comfortable with your child possibly getting henna, there is no need to fill out the form.

If you are opting out, please also take a moment to talk with your child before the day so they understand clearly that they should not receive henna on the day and they understand why.
