Primary (EC/ES) Connect - 17 October 2025

Dear Primary Families,

Today marks 45 days of school! We have completed the 1st Quarter! It has been a busy and productive start to the year filled with learning, growth, and connection. We are proud of the effort and energy our students, teachers, and families have brought to school each day.

As we head into October Break next week, we hope everyone takes time to rest and recharge. We look forward to welcoming everyone back, refreshed and ready for the exciting start of the 2nd Quarter.

Book-O-Ween Spirit Week

After break, we will welcome everyone back by celebrating Book-O-Ween! This fun and creative week combines our love for reading with the excitement of dressing up.

Throughout the week, students will participate in literacy-inspired activities that promote a joy for books, storytelling, and imagination. Our student ambassadors worked together to plan activities that will take place during the week,  such as DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) each day, Reading Buddies across primary classes, Mystery Readers, Book Trivia, and more.

Students are invited to take part in our themed Spirit Days:

  • Monday: Pajama Day – Bring a favorite stuffed animal and wear cozy pajamas or comfy clothes.

  • Tuesday: Dress Like a Word Day – Choose a word and bring it to life with your outfit! Be creative and make your word visible somewhere on your clothing.

  • Wednesday: Dress Like an Author Day– Celebrate the creativity and imagination of authors, by dressing like one. ***free dress because you’re already authors***
  • Thursday: Book Character Day – Come dressed as a favorite book character and bring the book along to share. Please remember, no scary costumes, no weapons, and no blood.

On Thursday morning, we will host a Book Character Parade for all students in the courtyard. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase their creativity and celebrate their favorite stories. Those participating must bring the book that matches their costume. The parade will take place at 7:40am in the courtyard, parents are welcome to attend.

*Students who are not dressed in the day's theme need to wear their school uniform.*

Students will also have the opportunity to trick-or-treat at school on Thursday. To help make this a fun and inclusive experience for everyone, we kindly ask each family to send in one bag of candy to the Primary Office. Please ensure that all candy is halal.

***We understand that not every family may wish for their child to participate in trick-or-treating. If you do not want your child to take part, please complete this opt-out form. We also ask that you discuss this decision with your child before Thursday.

We look forward to a joyful week of imagination, creativity, and a shared love of reading!
