Dear Primary Families,
We hope you had a fun and relaxing holiday weekend! It's hard to believe we only have about 30 school days left; this year has really flown by. We are incredibly proud of our students and the growth and development they've shown across so many areas.
EARTH DAY WEEK
This week marked a wonderful celebration of our planet as we celebrated Earth Day Week, which aligned with our vision of “empowering our community of learners to create a just and sustainable world.” We believe that providing learning opportunities focused on these goals is essential.
The Primary Student Council Ambassadors led the way with planning and leading several activities throughout the week! From EC to G5, our young leaders designed engaging, hands-on activities that educated, inspired action, and underscored the power each of us holds to protect Earth. Read on to discover the fantastic events they planned and executed!
- EC–G 1: Students participated in a read‑aloud and a recycling sorting game.
- G2: Students created stop‑motion videos about saving the oceans.
- G 3: Students took part in a Recycling Relay and made videos about saving the ocean.
- G4–5: Students participated in a prototype competition using recycled materials.
WELLNESS GARDEN PROJECT
Adding to the Primary Earth Day Activities, the optional Wellness Garden Focus Lunch led by our Student Council Advisors, Ms. Ania, Ms. Cannon and Ms. Victoria, took place last Thursday. During this session, students had the opportunity to contribute their ideas and help design a Wellness Garden. Their input will directly inform the final garden to be built for the next school year.
This event provided a fantastic opportunity for students to have their voices heard and actively contribute to shaping a new space on campus. We were thrilled to witness the creativity and innovation our students brought to this exciting project! Approximately 40 students participated, enthusiastically sharing their ideas about a Wellness Garden. They collaborated with their table groups to design their garden concepts. It was a joy to watch them engage and express their visions for the Wellness Garden.
UNPLUGGED DAY
We culminated Earth Day Week with Unplugged Day, starting with a whole-school assembly and spending the day technology and, to some extent, electricity free. Students engaged in hands-on learning, reflective discussions and moments of quiet that showed unplugging is more than powering down devices. It is about being fully present, cultivating empathy and listening to the Earth we are committed to protecting.
PRIMARY SPORTS DAY
Our Sports Day on April 17th was a tremendous success! Everyone in the primary school participated, ensuring a fun and safe day for all. A big "thank you" to Mr. Leo and the team for their countless hours of organization. Dividing students into their respective houses was a hit, and while everyone aimed to win, we know there's only one winner in any competition. The games were competitive yet fun, with teachers guiding students to play fairly and include everyone. The sportsmanship award encouraged students to support younger peers and exemplify our core values. We look forward to seeing our students grow and shine as they continue to develop these skills!
