Dear Primary (EC/ES) Families,
As the new primary assistant principal, I am continuously grateful to have joined such an energetic and friendly community. Primary school is filled with curiosity, laughter, and growth from both students and teachers. Each morning, I witness students entering school with smiling faces and excitement. I know this is because of the community that AISL is and the bond between students and teachers. Last week, I earned some brownie points with the students when I performed a cartwheel, one that they all thought I could not do. I am forever grateful!
Throughout the month of September, we've been focusing on our core value of RESPECT. It's been heartwarming to observe how our students, from our youngest learners in EC to our G5 scholars, have been demonstrating respect. We're incredibly proud of their positive attitudes and the way they embody our core value of respect.
We invite all Primary students, staff, and parents to wear yellow on Friday, September 27. We'll culminate our focus of Respect with a Primary Assembly on Friday, September 27th at 7:45 AM in the gym. During the assembly, our G3 students will showcase their learning from the past few weeks.
We look forward to seeing you all at the assembly.
LEARNING LABS in PRIMARY
We're excited to start Learning Labs in grades 1-5! Beginning next week, these 30-minute sessions will take place Monday through Thursday, providing a dedicated time for personalized learning tailored to each student's individual needs in reading and math.
During Learning Labs, there will be no new whole-class instruction taking place. Instead, teachers will focus on providing targeted and data-driven interventions to small groups of students who require extra support in specific areas. Other students may work with the instructional assistant to enhance, enrich, and extend their reading and math knowledge or engage in independent practice/projects.
Throughout the year, teachers will actively monitor student progress and make adjustments as needed to ensure that each student is receiving the personalized support they require. Based on both research and experience, we believe that Learning Labs will be a fun and exciting way for students to enhance their learning.
We look forward to the positive impact Learning Labs will have on our students' educational journey.
NEW MOTOR MOVEMENT ROOM
We’re excited to announce that the equipment for our new Motor Movement Room arrived this week!
Our early childhood students were already filled with joy as they explored the new equipment designed to develop key physical skills like balance, upper body strength, tumbling, agility, and cooperation. The Motor Movement Room offers a dynamic environment where our youngest learners can grow both physically and socially, laying a strong foundation for lifelong health and fitness.
Looking ahead, we also hope to extend the use of this space to other primary students with specific movement and sensory needs.
