IB courses are organized into six groups. Full Diploma candidates must select one subject from each of the six groups. A minimum of 3 and a maximum of four must be taken at the Higher Level (HL), the remaining courses to be taken at the Standard Level (SL). HL courses require a recommended minimum 240 teaching hours, while SL courses require a recommended minimum of 150 teaching hours. All HL courses require two years of study at AISL, while SL courses may require one or two years, depending on the course and the prerequisites. HL exams may be taken ONLY in the last year of the student’s IB program.
